Vina del Perdon, Gran Reserva

This wine is made of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Graciano grape varieties. It was aged in American and French oak barriques for 36 months and results in gorgeous oaky, but very smooth flavours. Finish is long, but very soft (very surprising for Gran Reserva!) and complex. It tastes softer, but also very much balanced like a good quality right bank Bordeaux- they have sustained the oakiness, removed bitterness and got a smooth and silky complex finish.

This wine needs decanting allow it to breathe and enjoy then! Please prepare a good red meat roast or a game dish, it would go perfectly with it. We have actually tried it with pan-fried duck and it was amazing! This wine is very soft (surprising because it was matured in oak barriques for so long) and thus complements to a delicate but fatty dish perfectly. If you have tried duck with lighter wines like Burgundy, give it a try with this Gran Reserva, you would be pleasantly surprised!
